Keith Products has a well-staffed engineering department to facilitate the development of new products. Normal staffing for the department includes three engineers, three designers, an administrative assistant and one technician to build prototype parts for new projects.

The engineering department uses AUTOCAD and Mechanical Desktop to develop all new drawings. All drawings that were developed pre- Auto CAD have been scanned and are stored as raster images. Changes can be made to these drawings using CAD Overlay. The entire library of drawings is managed using AutoManager Workflow. With this software package Keith employees are able to instantly locate any one of almost 15,000 files and either view drawings or make changes based upon the user’s security clearance.

To facilitate development projects with our OEM customers, Keith uses software to translate CATIA files into Mechanical Desktop files. We are able to receive CATIA drawings over our T1 line, convert them to Mechanical Desktop format, make changes, translate them back to CATIA and return them electronically to the customer.

The engineering department has the responsibility of maintaining all of the existing drawings, developing new products and certifying systems with the FAA. See the certification section of our web site for more information on this subject.

Engineering is also responsible for running performance testing on systems in the company test lab. For more information please see the testing section of our web site.
